Bayern Munich have won the race to sign Renato Sanches.
The 18-year-old has become one of the most wanted young talents in the world, with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly interested in his services. However, it was confirmed on Tuesday that he will join the German champions.
The Portuguese underwent a medical on Monday and signed a five-year deal the day later. His contract will expire on 30 June 2021.
- FC Bayern has been watching Renato Sanches for a long period - Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is quoted on their official website.
- We’re pleased we’ve been able to sign him despite big-name international competition. Renato is dynamic, a good tackler and a technically skilled midfielder who’ll add even more strength to our team - he added.
Bayern will pay €35 million as a transfer fee to Benfica, but there could be additional bonuses involved depending on his performances.
