Anthony Modeste has rejected an offer of terminating his contract with 1.FC Köln.
The Frenchman's move to China saga continues. The player was already in China and underwent medical tests at Tianjin Quanjian, but the transfer was not completed at the last minute. 1.FC Köln did not agree to the exorbitant demands made by the Modeste agent.
In spite of this, after a few days the negotiations came back and it seemed that all was going well on the way to signing the contract. Modeste signed a preliminary paper with the Chinese team last Thursday and was about to start earning at least eleven million euros a year for four years. Germans should receive a transfer fee of €35.7 million for his player card.
On Saturday the 29-year-old unexpectedly rejected the negotiated offer to terminate the contract with 1.FC Köln. The third best shooter of last season's Bundesliga expects his former team to take over any possible future tax obligations in China.
Yesterday at noon the German club left for a six-day teaming up to the Austrian Bad Radkersburg. Anthony Modeste was not there, which was justified on the official website of the club: "The footballer has been released from the duty for the team to reflect on his career and future." The transfer window in China will be closed on July 14th, which is on Friday.
