The English club is blocking the transfer of the Belgian and forcing him to join another club.
Jason Denayer has revealed that "The Citizens" are forcing him to move to LaLiga's side, Girona. The 22-year-old wants to go permanently to Olympique Lyon, who expressed interest in him, but the Englishmen block this transfer.
The central defender moved to Manchester City at the age of eighteen, but has so far failed to break into the first team. Instead he was already on three loans: to Celtic Glasgow, Galatasaray and Sunderland. JMG Lier trainee received an interesting offer from France, but the transfer is probably not going to happen.
Pep Guardiola wants the defensor to move to the Catalan club. Girona is a part of the City Football Group, which holds Manchester City, New York City and Melbourne City. The contract is not yet available, but the British are helping them in their first transfers after promotion and paying the fees.
"City blocked my departure to Lyon. They do not want to sell me, and if they do, they are unrealistic. For example, a release clause entered into a contract."
"Suddenly, they would like to loan me out. I do not mind, but I would like to choose the direction myself."
"Lyon was a perfect club, with an ambitious team in a good league."
"I had agreed the terms with Lyon, but City had not. They want to loan me to Gijón [football player confused Gijón with Girona - ed.]"
"They just promoted, the game is based on a counterattack, it is a small town with a small group of supporters. The total opposite of Lyon."
According to media reports, Pep Guardiola's brother, Pere, has a stake in Girona. Meanwhile, Manchester City sport director Txiki Begiristain helped negotiate the transfer of Bernardo Espinosa from Middlesbrough.
