Shinji Kagawa has prolonged his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
On the first day of the Asian journey, sport director Michael Zorc announced the premature extension of the contract with Shinji Kagawa. The Japanese signed a contract paper dated 30 June 2020.
"We are very fortunate that Shinji will play for us over the next three years," Zorc said in Tokyo, adding, "Shinji is very identified with our club, the city and our fans. He is one of the most experienced players and an exceptionally important anchor in our overall young team."
The agile midfielder was one of the cornerstones on the way to the German Championships 2011 and 2012, and he also made a big contribution to the DFB Cup 2012 and 2017. The first goal in the 2012 match against FC Bayern Munich (5-2) was scored by Shinji Kagawa; In the 2017 final against Eintracht Frankfurt (2017), he determined the tact of the encounter. For Japan, Kagawa has played in 88 international matches (27 goals).
