Wesley Sneijder is no longer a player of Galatasaray.
The 33-year-old's contract with the club from Istanbul was valid until June 30, 2018. However, the "Galata" have announced that it has been terminated.
As we read in the news release, the parties have reached agreement on the future of the Dutchman. According to it, he will be forced to pay a fine of €20 million if he is to be associated with another Turkish team within the next three years. Interestingly, the fee for breaking the existing contract was paid by himself.
Sneijder has been representing the colors of the Turkish club since 2013 when he came there from Inter. In total, he played in 175 official games in their jersey. He scored 45 goals in which he added 44 assists.
The 33-year-old has been linked with a few clubs for a long time. At this moment it seems that his move to the MLS or return to Italy are most likely to happen. Sneijder's agent even said that the midfielder himself wanted to go to Sampdoria.
