Tiemoué Bakayoko has become a new player of Chelsea FC.
The 22-year-old's move from AS Monaco to London has been speculated for a long time. The transfer was delayed but finally confirmed. "The Blues" reported their agreement on the contract valid until 30 June 2022. According to the British media, Chelsea paid 40 million pounds for him.
"I'm glad I'm here to join such a great team. I grew up watching Chelsea. Putting a signature was a natural thing for me, because in my childhood I loved this club. I look forward to my further development under the guidance of a great coach and great teammates," said the French champion.
"Despite his young age, he is a very experienced player. He reached the French championship, competed in the Champions League... We hope he'll add a lot of quality to our team," said Michael Emenalo, technical director of the London club.
Bakayoko had a great last season. In all, he played in 51 matches in all competitions. Let us add that the club from the Duchy paid Rennes only eight million euros for him in 2014.
This is Chelsea's second big transfer in this window. Previously, they bought Antonio Rüdiger from Roma for less than 30 million pounds. In addition, the champions of England have acquired Willy Caballero for free.
