Holger Badstuber has become a new player of VfB Stuttgart.
The central defender, Holger Badstuber, was presented as a new player for the Bundesliga side after signing a one-year contract. The 28-year-old was a free agent after his contract with Bayern Munich expired. In the new team he will perform with number 28.
For Germany it means coming back to Stuttgart after fifteen years. In 2002 he left the youth team "Die Schwaben" for Bayern Munich. Since then, he has always represented the colors of the Bavarian until the winter of this year when he moved to Schalke Gelsenkirchen. The Mercedes-Benz Arena also came to him back then, but the 31-time Germany international had to admit that a better choice for him would be staying in the Bundesliga.
Now he will be competing in Stuttgart for place in the starting line-up with Marcin Kaminski, Timo Baumgartl and Benjamin Pavard. His advantage will be a huge experience, because from the three mentioned only the second player has already appeared at Bundesliga level.
"Nobody should forget about their roots and I did not forget about mine! VfB was and is something special for me, so it has a very emotional impact on me. The region, the fans, and the optimism floating in the air ... I cannot wait, " said Badstuber.
