OFFICIAL: Van Persie's statement

Robin van Persie stays up to date on media reports.

Not very optimistic reports on the Dutch were presented by beIN Sport. According to journalists, the experienced player, who returned to the national team in a recent game against France (0-4), broke the ligament and will pause for nine months. Journalists have even suggested that this could mean the end of 34-year-old's career.

"I would like to make this brief statement with the intention to rectify news spread concerning myself," he wrote in a statement posted to his Twitter account.

"I regret that any statements about my injury have been made without my consent and approval.

"At this moment, I have a minor knee injury which has an average recovery time of three weeks.

"This is the conclusion of several knee specialists that come highly recommended, based on the scans, clinical tests and the fact that I could resume the match after the moment the injury happened.

"I'm looking forward to being back on the training pitch soon."

Let us add that the game against France has been a returning for Van Persie to the team after nearly two years. In terms of identity at the club, this season was involved in two matches in the Turkish Premier League and the European League qualifiers.
