Jose Mourinho believes that by delaying bringing Romelu Lukaku in, he would make a huge mistake.
The transfer of the 24-year-old to Manchester United was finalized in early July and the price amounted to £75m plus future bonuses of £15m. Looking at later market events, these funds do not seem as huge as they were initially.
Since Paris Saint-Germain have bought Neymar for € 222 million, the conditions dictated by clubs around the world have become more exorbitant. Jose Mourinho, who spoke to The Times quite eloquently, commented on the rise in prices.
"Our window is considered to be successful. We managed to make good gains, signing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic. I think we really saved a lot of money.
"Everything because of the move of Neymar to the PSG. That changed everything. If we delayed the above-mentioned transfers to the last minute - let's say by 31st August - Lukaku would cost us £150m then, namely the same as the whole three."
