Andres Iniesta met with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu earlier this week to discuss his contract renewal, say reports.
Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo reported on its Friday front page that the two had talked on Wednesday regarding a renewal.
Diario Sport reported on Thursday that a meeting had taken place regarding the 33-year-old’s deal, which expires in June 2018.
The Blaugrana have reportedly offered a ‘lifetime extension’ whereby the Spain international could decide at the end of each season whether he wanted to renew or not, giving him power over the club.
There are reportedly ‘discrepancies’ between the player and the club with reports stating this will ensure no deal is signed soon, but will be finalised over the coming months.
Iniesta has been linked with a move to Italian champions Juventus next summer as a free agent.
